Monkeys Given a Gene Inhibitor, Work Harder

Bad monkey, no dopamine.

It seems counter-intuitive, but when a genetic dopamine blocker is employed in mokeys, they procrastinate less, work harder, and make fewer mistakes.

That NIMH is working on injecting animals to make them better, brings up haunting memories of Secret of NIMH. I know they do this sort of thing all the time, but the fact that it's working...

I'm also reading Beggars in Spain, a world in which genetic modifications to sleep patterns creates a new race of super-productive people. In that world, the genemods took place before birth. With this injection, productivity can theoretically be boosted in anyone.
